The Faculty of Engineering Sciences confers doctoral degrees in any of the following subject areas:

• Biosystems Engineering
• Computational Science and Engineering
• Computer Engineering
• Matter to Life
• Medical Engineering
• Molecular Biotechnology
• Molecular Systems Science and Engineering
• Pharmaceutical Sciences

In each subject area, the degrees of a doctor of science (Dr. rer. nat.) or a doctor of engineering (Dr.-Ing.) can be awarded, depending on the research focus of the doctoral thesis and subject to approval by the PhD committee.
