Application and Admission

Language Requirements

The Master of Computer Engineering is mostly taught in German language. Successful studies are only possible with very good German knowledge. Knowledge at a level of DSH-2 must be provided latest at enrolment. Admission interviews are held in German language.

Admission Criteria

Admission to the Master of Computer Engineering requires a Bachelor of Science, Magister, Staatsexamen, Diplom or equivalent degree in a study program of at least 6 semester duration in one of the following subjects:

  • Computer Science or Computer Engineering
  • Mathematics, a Natural Science or an Engineering Science which incudes basic knowledge of computer science and computer engineering, typically of at least 24 ECTS credits. The relevant modules must be attested.

The decision of the suitability of the completed study program and modules for admission is taken by the admission committee ('Zulassungsausschuss'). Suitability and motivation are reviewed in an (online) interview with the candidate. This interview is held in German language! A score value is calculated from the (typically) BSc grade (0...30 points) and from the result of the interview (0...15 points). Admission is granted for a score of at least 20 points. Tuition Fees

The applicable tuition fee depends on the origin of the applicant, as described on the general page. For non-EU and non-EEA countries it is 1500€ per semester (2023).

Application

Online applications are handled  by the campus management system heiCO. German applicants and international applicants with a german 'Hochschulzugangsberechtigung' or a german university degree can apply until 30.09.2023. All other international applicants can apply for a winter term until June, 15 or for a summer term until November, 15.
